The basics
An Expert Advisor (EA) is a program that runs inside your trading platform and opens, manages and closes trades according to rules you define in advance — not according to how you feel that day.
Most traders don't fail because the idea is wrong — they fail because they can't follow it every single time. Fatigue, hesitation and second-guessing creep in. An Expert Advisor runs the same rules on every trade, exactly as written, whether you're watching or not.
Learn how automated trading worksAn EA follows its rules exactly — which is why the rules have to be right.
Why traders automate
Traders don't use EAs to get rich quick. They use them to trade better.
No fear, greed or revenge trades — the rules decide.
Every entry follows exactly the same logic.
Trade without living on the charts all day.
The same risk on trade after trade.
Rules can be tested, measured and refined.
Every position sized by the same risk rule — no exceptions.
How it works
Three steps every strategy should go through — learn it, test it, then trade it.
Learn strategy and risk management first — and understand the logic behind the code.
Test the EA on historical data and a demo account before any real money is involved.
Trade live with written rules, conservative risk and regular performance reviews.
Successful traders treat an EA as a tool, not a miracle.
An EA doesn't replace the trader — it supports the trader.
An EA isn't the end of the road — it's one part of the process.
Automation becomes part of a framework — not a gamble.
Why KenzDevz
KenzDevz develops trading automation with the same discipline we expect the code to have — manual or automated, structure comes first.
At KenzDevz, automation is a tool for discipline — never a shortcut to profit.
Why the trading environment matters: even a well-built EA depends on where it runs.
Where your EA runs matters just as much as how it was built.
The honest comparison
Both have a place. An EA doesn't replace your judgement — it carries it out the same way, every time.
| Compared on | Trading by hand | With an Expert Advisor |
|---|---|---|
| Hours covered | Only while you're at the screen | Whenever the market is open |
| Discipline | Depends on mood and fatigue | The same rules on every trade |
| Position sizing | Worked out by hand, easy to skip | The same risk rule, applied automatically |
| Emotion | Fear, greed and hesitation | None — rules only |
| Execution | Seconds to minutes after the signal | As soon as the conditions are met |
| Still needs you for | Everything | Good rules, testing and monitoring |
An EA still loses money when its rules are wrong or the market changes. Read the risk warning.
Is your risk sized right?
Put in your own numbers. Every trader hits a run of losses — this shows what it does at different risk levels.

Risk per trade
Over hundreds of trades, runs of 6–10 losses are normal — even for strategies that win more often than they lose.
Drawdown
−14.9%
after 8 losses in a row
Balance left

first loss: $200.00
Gain to recover
+17.5%

Balance through the streak
2% risk 1% risk
At 1% risk the same streak would cost 7.7% instead of 14.9%.
Note: each loss is a % of what's left, so losses compound. This is arithmetic, not a forecast.

Who it's for
How different traders put automation to work.
Has a day job and a clear plan. The EA executes that plan during market hours they can't watch.
Trades while workingAlready trades written rules by hand. Automation removes the hesitation between signal and execution.
Rules, executed exactlyWants to test ideas quickly. Code makes every rule measurable, repeatable and easy to improve.
Test, measure, refineFAQ
Common questions about automated trading.
An Expert Advisor is a program that runs inside MetaTrader and trades according to predefined rules — entries, exits, position size and risk limits — without you having to place each trade by hand.
No. You install the EA, set its inputs and let it run. What matters is understanding what those inputs do — especially the risk settings — before you switch it on.
If your strategy can be written as clear rules, it can usually be automated. Rules that depend on judgment (“this setup looks strong”) first need to be turned into measurable conditions.
Automation does not remove market risk. An EA can lose money, behave unexpectedly in unusual conditions, or be affected by broker, connection or VPS problems. Never risk money you cannot afford to lose.
Start with MetaTrader's Strategy Tester for historical results, then run the EA on a demo account for several weeks. Move to live trading only with small size and the risk limits switched on.
